The Paralympic Basketball Tournament 2024

Junckers Provides Courts for the Paralympic Games in Paris

Following the successful delivery of the courts for the Olympic basketball tournaments, Junckers continued its role as the official flooring supplier for the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. Junckers was once entrusted with providing top-quality sports floors for the wheelchair basketball tournaments, a testament to the durability and adaptability of the Pro Complete 44 portable sports floor system. The courts, designed to accommodate the unique needs of Paralympic athletes, supported elite performance while ensuring accessibility and safety.

Junckers’ longstanding partnership with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) played a pivotal role in its involvement in the Paralympic Games. After providing the courts for prior events such as the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 and the 2024 Olympic Games, Junckers was uniquely positioned to meet the technical and logistical demands of the Paralympics.

Custom Modifications for Accessibility

The Paralympic basketball courts required specific adjustments to ensure the smooth transition from the Olympic setup. Thomas Flindt, Junckers' Manager of Product Development and Technical Support, oversaw the modifications:

“For the Paralympic Games, we needed to make several custom adjustments to the courts, including widening the bench areas for wheelchair accessibility and replacing the Olympic rings with the Paralympic logo. Additionally, we designed and installed custom ramps for easy court access.”

The modifications ensured that the courts provided the same high level of performance while meeting the additional accessibility needs required for the Paralympics.

Junckers’ Pro Complete 44

Junckers’ Pro Complete 44 system, made from solid press-dried beech, once again proved to be the ideal choice for high-level competition. Its great shock absorption and durability provided a safe and reliable surface for the Paralympic athletes. Finished with Junckers' HP800 Sport lacquer, the courts not only met FIBA’s stringent performance standards but also ensured an exceptional aesthetic presence.
