Certifications

An increasing share of the timber is certified according to the internationally recognized schemes and impartial certifying bodies such as PEFC, the Australian AFS, the American SFI and the Malaysian MTCC. In general, Junckers works consciously and actively on increasing the share of timber which is certified according to these or similar certification schemes through ongoing dialogue and cooperation.

Since 2006 Junckers is CoC (Chain of Custody) certified and, therefore, entitled to sell products which are certified according to the PEFC schemes (cert. no. 183285). Today, approximately 2/3 of our purchased timber is certified according to PEFC or FSC. By purchasing certified timber, Junckers makes certain that the timber has been produced legally and sustainably and that the logging work has been carried out in compliance with human rights and other social conditions prescribed by the standards. The last third of timber is purchased from forests in the neighbouring areas where the individual countries such as Denmark, Sweden, Germany, etc. secure sustainable forestry themselves. For trading products, which accounted for approximately 5% of our revenue in 2009, we are in a process of ensuring that the suppliers are certified.

In 2001 Junckers was awarded the European environmental certificate under the so-called EMAS II scheme (cert. no. 22547-2008-AE-DEN-DANAK) and the international ISO 14001 certificate (cert. no. 22548-2008-AE-DEN-DANAK). All our floors and surfaces are CE marked from 1 March 2009. This means that the floors shall apply to certain common European Union standards within e.g. fire resistance, the environment (liberation of chemicals) compressive strength, friction and light reflection for sports floors. It is our aim to have all our floors and surfaces CE marked over time.

For lacquers and oils we comply with REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of CHemicals), and our lacquered and oiled floors comply with the demands to the Danish Indoor Climate Regulator; by the way Junckers was the first manufacturer in Denmark to achieve this approval from the Danish Technological Institute.
